SRINAGAR: Senior separatist leader and the Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah has urged upon people to “stay away” of the election process due in the next year. “Elections are a non issue, and if we are allowed to precede our boycott call we will definitely do that, I appeal the people to stay away of the process,” Shah said while addressing a press conference. Alleging India of creating tension on the Line of Control, Shah said, “India is aware of the consequences of war but is deliberately trying to keep on the skirmishes on LoC so as to divert attention of the world community from the real issue of Kashmir.” He added that India also wants to divert the world attention from K issue towards other non-issues before Washington leaves Afghanistan. “India does not want the changes to take place, it knows that after US leaves Afghanistan, Kashmir is sure to receive much attention.” Shah said that the rising confrontation between Pakistan and India on both along the LoC would affect the people of Kashmir. “Kashmir is a political dispute and should be resolved through political means,” he added. Shah maintained that war was no option, so both countries by exhibiting statesmanship should try to resolve the disputes including the dispute over Kashmir through meaningful dialogue. He said that the recent desecration of Holy Qura’an in Gool by the hands of Indian forces and the killing of Muslims on Eid-ul-Fitr in Kishtwar was the worst examples of “Indian state terrorism”. “Sangh Parivar is hell bent upon dividing Kashmir on religious lines with the help of Village Defence Committees, VDCs,” he said adding “the motive of India behind all such incidents was to mislead the world community over Kashmir dispute but India, despite all such endeavours, would never succeed in its sinister designs.” Alleging India that it was involved in the “fake encounters” shah said, “From Chattisinghpora to Mumbai attack and Malihgaon and Samjota, India is involved in the killings.” He demanded an unbiased probe in killing of five Indian troops. He said that India should also initiate enquiry in Gool incident, unmarked graves, court murders, disappearances and harassment of women and children. Answering a question, Shah said that he is still a part of the Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
