Hurriyat playing politics over musical concert: Kamal

Srinagar, Aug 27: At a time when the chairmen of both factions of Hurriyat Conference have opposed the proposed musical concert by German embassy in Srinagar on September 7, Additional General Secretary of ruling National Conference Dr Mustafa Kamal Tuesday alleged that they were playing politics to gain points. “Hurriyat Conference is making issue out of nothing to instigate public emotions against the event which has been organized just to boost the tourism industry,” Kamal told KNS. “The fact of the matter is that they actually have no solid basis by which they can support their opposition for the concert. Such types of concerts have always been conducted in Kashmir before. One of the programs named Sun-in-Lights was famous and had helped the tourism sector to progress,” he claimed. Lashing out at Hurriyat leaders, Kamal said, “They are doing all this just to run their shops and bee fool the people. They love violence that is why they are always in search of something which can help them to play their dirty politics.” Pertinently, Syed Ali Shah Geelani had on Sunday opposed the scheduled concert and appealed the German Ambassador Michel Steiner to reconsider his decision in view of the ‘disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday suggested Germany to construct a special hospital in Kashmir instead of musical concerte. However, German Ambassador declared it as a purely cultural program. (KNS)
