SRINAGAR: Condemning the bloodshed in Egypt, Iraq and Syria, Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that the criminal silence of the Islamic world, international community and human right organizations is silently allowing the bloodbath of people in these countries. Addressing a gathering at historic Jamia Masjid, Mirwaiz said that it was highly unfortunate that the murder of innocent Muslims is led by the very fellow Muslim rulers of those countries. “As a part of Muslim World, Kashmiris strongly condemn the anti-people action led by the despot rulers of these respective countries. Using of chemical gas against innocent people which resulted in killing of hundreds of children, toddlers and grown-ups was unjustifiable and unacceptable,” he said. The Hurriyat (M) Chairman called upon OIC to intervene in Egypt, Syria and Iraq to stop the bloodshed of Muslims and desecration of sacred religious places, adding, the silence of Islamic organizations on such grave issue was a cause of concern. He appealed religious scholars and imams to mobilize the public against the blood bath in the Islamic countries. Terming the Jamia Masjid operation on August 25, 1989 as black day in Kashmir history, Mirwaiz said many religious places like Hazratbal, Chrar-e-Sharief Peer Dastgir Sahib and others were desecrated by the Indian troops in past 25 years. Mirwaiz announced that August 25 day would be observed as youm-e-Taqdoos and appealed imams, khateebs, scholars and people to raise protests against such incidents during the five time prayers and public gatherings. He also asked them to ensure the safety of religious places. Mirwaiz said on August 25, an important meeting of religious leaders, scholars and organizations would be held who would shed light on the importance of this day. The Hurriyat (M) chairman also condemned the use of force by state government on employees saying using force one everybody has become a state policy. He said the Hurriyat supports government employees in their rightful demands, adding, the party also stressed upon the employees community to get rid against large scale corruption. He said there is no work done in public departments without taking bribery or indulging in corruption. “Corruption, bribery, and deceit have seeped into society and government employees have to play an important role to eradicate the social ill rotting the society,” he said. Meanwhile a high level delegation led by senior party leader Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Yasmeen Raja today visited Shopian to express solidarity with the people there.
