Umar Reacts To Omar’s Assertions

SRINAGAR: While reacting to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Thursday statement that people of Jammu and Kashmir were being treated differently by India, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said that reality is that New Delhi has always exploited Kashmiris’ but the fact of the matter is that National Conference and other pro-India political parties are equally responsible for that.’ Addressing the people at historic Jamia Masjid here, he said, “By blaming New Delhi for exploitation of Kashmiris these people (Omar Abdullah and other pro-India parties) can’t absolve themselves from the blame. Right from 1947 till date these parties have remained in power in Jammu and Kashmir and are equally responsible for all the problems be it economical, social or political and eroding special status of the state.” “These parties are responsible for bringing Indian army into the state and creating Ikhwan and Task Force to crush the genuine voice of Kashmiris,” he alleged. According to a local news agency, KNS the Hurriyat (M) chairman has demanded immediate disarming of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) in Jammu region and alleged that this killer group has been given a ‘free license to kill the Muslims in the region’. “VDCs are a serious threat for the life and property of Muslims in Jammu region as they are responsible for the killings of Muslims,” he claimed. On the recent flare up on Line of Control between the armies of India and Pakistan, Mirwaiz urged leadership of both the countries to show statesmanship to create conducive atmosphere for negotiations where all the issues can be solved. He urged both the countries to solve all the issues including Kashmir issue through a meaningful dialogue.
