Srinagar, August 06 (KNS): Shab-e-Qadr was observed in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night with religious zeal and fervor.The biggest gathering on the eve of Shab-e-Qadr was observed at historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar where thousands of people,including women participated in the night long prayers. The prayers were led by Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Mirwaiz spoke about the significance of Shab-e-Qadr and said it was a divine night when Allah (SWT) revealed holy Qu’ran to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) for the guidance of the mankind. While reciting quran, Mirwaiz said the occasion provides opportunity to spend the night in praying and seeking forgiveness and blessings from Allah. He said on this night Allah decides upon the matters of the universe till the next year’s shab-e Qadar. Mirwaiz asked devotees to practically implement the teachings of Quran and Islam in their lives so as to bring positive reforms in the society.He stressed upon the youth to follow the footsteps of prophet Muhamamd (SWS) (PBUH) so as to eradicate social ills and bring reforms in the society.The Hurriyat Chairman asked people to celebrate eid-ul-Fitar with austerity and simplicity. He said people show donate towards charity and help the poor and orphans. Meanwhile people offered night long prayers and recited holy Qur’an in Jamia Masjids .Thousands of people offered prayers at historic Jamia Masjid in Old City and remained awake for the whole night seeking forgiveness and prosperity for mankind.
