SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shalinder Kumar today directed for ensuring availability of essentials including rice, atta, sugar, kerosene oil and LPG cylinders besides asked for intensifying market checking to regulate the prices of essential commodities and make quality essentials available to the consumers. He also directed for providing additional one Kg sugar on each ration card. This was given out during a daylong visit of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir today alongwith a team of divisional level officers to different mosques and shrines of the Srinagar city to review the arrangements being put in for the devotees in view of the ensuing Shab-i-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr. Among others, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, DIG Traffic, Chief Engineers of PHE and PDD, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar besides Joint Director Information accompanied. Divisional Commissioner during his visit to Dargah Hazratbal, Peer Dastigeer Sahib, Jamia Masjid, Khanqah Mohalla, shrines of Syed Yaqoob and Naqashband Sahib enjoined upon the officers to ensure cleanliness in and around these shrines besides asked for better transport facilities for the devotees. He also directed PHE and PDD departments to ensure drinking water facilities and uninterrupted power supply during the auspicious days. Mr. Kumar exhorted upon the Health Services department to establish medical campus at Dargah Hazratbal and Jamia Masjid, Srinagar to provide medicare facilities to the devotees. Emphasizing for ensuring availability of quality edibles and to curb hoarding, black marketing and profiteering, Divisional Commissioner directed for intensifying market checking. A large number of deputations also called on the Divisional Commissioner during the visit and put forth their demands. Mr. Kumar gave them a patient hearing and assured that their genuine demands shall be looked into on priority.
