SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik along with senior Front leaders Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and Ghulam Mohammad Dar who were arrested at Lal Chowk on July 18 while protesting against Gool killings are still in police custody.JKLF district president Bashir Ahmad Rather alongwith dozens also remains in police custody since Friday. In a statement a spokesperson of the Front said Malik and others are lodged in Kothibagh police station while as Bashir and others have been kept in Ganderbal police station. He said that Malik in a statement from custody has strongly condemned the ongoing atrocities, oppression and police repression of Kashmiris especially the youth. “These atrocities are like rubbing salt on wounds. Instead of arresting killers of Gool massacre, instead of arresting those culprits who desecrated Holy Quran and masjid, so-called rulers in Kashmir through their police and killer forces have unleashed a reign of terror on those who stood against the tyranny and oppression. This clearly shows that Kashmir is actually a police state where so called democratic and civil authorities are only as a cover and the real powers are with the police and forces,” he alleged.“Unleashing a reign of terror, spree of arrests, raids and other repressive measures clearly show that so called rulers are there only to safeguard the interests of killer forces and proving them a legal cover,” he added.Malik said that now they are being told that an investigation will be held in Gool case. “What happened to the previous investigations? Has anyone been booked for crimes in 2010. Has any FIR been lodged against those who killed hundreds in 2008, 2009 and 2010? So-called rulers and their so-called investigations stand exposed now and these people cannot conceal truth anymore,” he said.Meanwhile, the spokesperson said JKLF organized protest rallies throughout world especially in London, USA, UAE, Islamabad Pakistan and several cities of Pakistan-administrated-Kashmir. “The protests were held against the discretion of holy Quran, mosque, killings of innocent Kashmiris, arrests and imprisonments of leaders and youth including Malik and others. Kashmiris in large numbers living overseas participated in these protest programs,” he said.
