Meraj-e-Aalam Celebrated Across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Meraj-e-Aalam, the night when Prophet Muhammad (SAW) made the historical journey along with the trusted protector of the revelation across the skies, was celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety across the Valley on Friday. Thousands of devotees thronged the shrines and Masjids in connection with the celebrations. Devotees also held nightlong prayers and recited ‘Durood’ at the shrine, which is believed to house a holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The biggest congregation of the Mehraj-ul-Alam function was held at Hazratbal shrine located on the banks of the Dal Lake here. Devotees thronged the shrine during the course and offered the prayers at the shrine. The holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was displayed to the devotees after every prayer. As per the reports of a local news agency, CNS the rush of the devotees continued throughout the day with nearly 20 thousand offering congregational prayers in morning alone while all but more than hundred thousand devotees offered Friday prayers.Some of the people turned emotional and could not control the tears while having a look at the holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Others could be seen engrossed in thoughtful prayers while seeking refuge in Almighty Allah’s greatness. Congregational prayers were also held in many other shrines in the Valley include Jinab Sahib Soura, Aasar-i-Sharief Shahri Kailshpora, Aasar-i-Sharief Lal Bazaar, Khanqah-e-Mualla, Dastegeer Sahib Khanyar, Kohimaran, Ziyarat Syed Saib Sonwar and Ziyarat Makdoom Sahib.The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in a message on the occasion, expressed the hope that the day would usher in an era of ‘lasting peace and prosperity’ in the State.The journey of Prophet Mohammad to the heavens during the night of Meraj was the greatest of miracles of the Allah’s messenger, he said in the message.
