Kashmiri people stages protest in New Delhi

Even after Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik was ‘forcibly’ sent back to
Kashmir, scores of Kashmiri people including the mother of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat hold a peaceful protest in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi.
According to reports, scores of Kashmiri people including women tried to take out a march from Abul Fazal Enclave, Jamia Nagar to Jantar Mantar.
However, large contingents of Delhi police, Delhi police special cell, andCISF personnel besieged the protestors and didn’t allow them to take out the march.Police stopped them at Jamia Nagar, however, the protestors who were
carrying placards and banners continued to protest. Amid pro-freedom slogans arguments continued for hours between the protestors and police. “Kashmiri prisoners are political prisoners and not terrorists”, “Release our sons and brothers” “We want freedom” were some of the slogans that were written on placards and banners.
Human Rights activist, S.A.R.Geelani who was part of the protest told CNS from New Delhi that scores of Kashmiri men and women participated in the
protest. “Not speaking of taking out march, even we were not allowed to hold a press conference,” he said and added that those who participated in
protest included Parveena Ahangar and mother and brother of Maqbool Bhat.Several eminent personalities reached there to show solidarity with the protestors and those included Prof. Zafar –ul- islam Editor Milli Gazzet, Varvara Rao,President Revolutionary Democratic Front,Ganpatiprasadan
Secretary RDF, Prof.S.N.Saibaba Prof.Dehli university, Prof Hani Baba Prof Dehli University, Rona Vilson PRO Committe for Release of Political
Prisoners and S.A.R.Geelani and other college students who study in different colleges in New Delhi. (CNS)
