Murdered British Woman’s Body Flown Home

The body of British woman, Sara Groves who was stabbed to death in a house boat in Srinagar, has been flown to New Delhi where from the body will be flown to her native country.
Sources told two officials of British Embassy in New Delhi arrived here and after a couple of hours they were handed over the body.
The officials of British embassy in New Delhi had approached the Jammu and Kashmir government for the body of Sara.
Sara, 24 was stabbed to death by a Dutch tourist, Richard de Wit, 43, in a houseboat hotel room on April 6, 2013.
De Wit was arrested as he tried to flee in a taxi in the wee hours after the British woman was found dead.
The local Police said they had spoken to de Wit’s wife in the Netherlands who told them her husband had a history of psychiatric problems. De Wit, who was staying in a room adjacent to the victim, had started staying in the houseboat last Thursday.
The parents of Sara reportedly said they begged her not to travel to the area. While speaking at a press conference in Guernsey, Miss Groves’ father said she had decided to travel to Kashmir after meeting a man called Samir and arranging to stay with his family. Victor Groves said he had been concerned his daughter was changing her original plans. He said, “She went north instead. We tried so hard to stop her going.”
